Many youth sports organizations throughout the United States are operated by volunteers who contribute their time and energy to serving their communities. This commitment includes emergencies, in which we do our best to ensure our customers’ games are played as scheduled. For instance, during a Memorial Day Weekend, we received a phone call from a customer whose soccer fields were lined incorrectly. Within an hour, we delivered additional cases of field marking paint to fix the error, and the games were played on time.

You were an amazing father, mentor, advisor, partner, and friend. From coaching my micro soccer team at the age of five to your final delivery for Winning Teams, your lessons have been invaluable. You instilled in me the importance of patience, the value of seizing opportunities even when they seem daunting, and the significance of saying thank you. Any time there was a situation at work that seemed distressing or frustrating, you showed me how to have a better, more positive perspective on it and not dwell on the little things. You helped me become who I am today, and I am forever thankful.

We worked together for 15 straight years, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day (sometimes more). Dad, the office is empty without you. I still can’t believe you’re gone. But I do believe you would want me to continue running the business, which I will do at my fullest capacity.

I remember all those trips to see the Metrostars at Giants Stadium when I was young. Not only did we have season tickets, but we had 3rd-row seats near midfield! You would never settle for anything less for your family. You were such a hard worker, even until the end. You would sometimes get up at 4:00 AM to catch up on work because, as you put it, “there are no phone calls or emails then, so there’s no way I can get distracted.” And then you would work long into the night (and fill me in on what you did the next morning). You were a great salesman. You were so easy to talk to. Every time you were on the phone with a customer, I would always be listening and taking mental notes on ways I could improve myself.
